I wish you all the best with the pitch Ben. Public speaking is literally my worst nightmare so I cant help with much advice there, but I do work for an ad agency, and we pitch a lot. 3 minutes is a really short time, so you cant fluff around too much. I would present it as: Here is the problem (obesity levels) and back it up with both data and personal experience. Then here is our solution. Talk about why it works in human terms. I think you already explain all this stuff really well, so it should go really smoothly. Also make a nice looking presentation deck. No powerpoint!

Well done Ben, a great pitch and I am sure you’ll be successful. If I had one comment to change the pitch slightly, if you can help the listener personally relate to the struggle of weight loss and how Alfred will help them. Not an easy thing to do but if successful they then have a personal connection to Alfred. If you have a wordsmith available who can work their magic, it may help. Just my 2 cents mate, and you may disagree… that is allowed.

Good luck Ben. I agree with all of the others, keep it within the perimeters of the points you want to make. Only mention competitor apps to show how yours is easier and superior(and will be even better with the grant)

Your own success story means you can speak with conviction and it’s easier to talk publicly if you know what you’re talking about. Are you allowed to take about her person who’s also had success as a prop? (NOT front rower!)

I guess be prepared for any questions they may ask (thinking about Shark 🦈 Tank!)

But I have faith in you… you’ll nail it.

Hey Ben,

I think it's snappy and covers all the bases! I know you really believe in Alfred so this will come through in the pitch too.

Nothing more useful to add from me - wish you the best of luck, you'll nail it.

Cheers,

Ben

Looks like you've got everything there and I agree with Jarrod that 3 mins requires you to cut straight to the key elements. I've referred to this article a few times to structure a pitch around (1) megatrend, (2) possible outcomes (3) how success can look and feel (4) how the business is different and (5) proof points (which in your case is your lived experience) https://medium.com/the-mission/the-greatest-sales-deck-ive-ever-seen-4f4ef3391ba0

Fantastic Ben! Love your work! Unlike a lot of other apps/diets you can tell see how passionate you are but also how much you actually care about other people. This is the component that is missing from a lot of other programs, the creators see dollar signs and every person who signs up is money not a real person. Not only do you have the hard work and determination but you care about people and the relationships you have with them. You've created something based on what you wish you had and you've also experienced first hand what it's like to have an unhealthy relationship with food. Something a lot of other diet and program creators are missing, meaning that they don't understand but you do :).

Congratulations Ben. I think you’ve actually nailed it there. Sorry I can’t offer anything more constructive in terms of rewording any parts.

I believe it is a fact based, convincing personal story that rings true. Presenting the genuine article is often the best way to go. Best of luck with it Ben.
