Happy Birthday Ben! :)

I'm glad we crossed paths at the Brumbies, otherwise, my blog wouldn't exist and I wouldn't be a member of the fabulous R4R community :)

I’m glad our paths crossed too. Had a great walk with your Dad yesterday at R4R UC!

Lovely read Ben! You’re such a hero and support in the Canberra community and we can certainly learn so much from you! Thanks for your words of wisdom! I’m turning 30 next week so will try imbed these into my next 10 years 😊

Thank you Kyla and I wish I was as wise as you when I was 30!

Beautifully written, Ben. The "putting yourself first" thing is very difficult for a lot of people, particularly because of the connotations about selfishness and prioritising service to others. It feels as though you are getting into the groove of treating yourself as kindly as you would treat your best friend, and it shows in your reflections.

I know I didn't truly learn to separate myself from my work identity until my fifties - maybe still trying? - so you've got a full decade head start on some of us. Your children will benefit.

I hope so! Hope my daughters never go thru the rock bottomingly low self esteem period like I did. But even if they do, I know they’ll be better for it.

Some priceless reflections in there, mate. I particularly identify with putting yourself first to be of better service to others. Sorting your shit out so as to not pass it on to the kids, and not underestimating how lucky you’ve been (reflection/gratitude).

Sounds like you’re in a great place to rip into your 40s and help others by sharing what you’ve learned.

Happy Birthday, mate.
