An unforgettable week
Shutting down Alfred, The Dock booms, Recovery 4 Resilience, and a proud Dad moment
I won’t be forgetting this week anytime soon.
It started shit as I decided to shut Alfred (my start-up) down until I find a co-founder.
This was a tough decision as I’ve working on it for 7 years.
But I feel really good about it now, and glad I finally faced up to the reality that I alone do not have the energy to get it to it’s full potential.
Thanks to everyone who messaged checking in on me, and to those who reached out to chat about finding co-founder.
I’ve got a rough idea what I’ll do, but if you know someone I should chat with, please let me know.
But the week hasn’t been all doom and gloom, as the Dock did its best Wednesday ever, thanks to perfect beer-drinking weather (33.5C) and
(R4R) going from strength to strength.I never thought the Dock would bounce back like it has when I was depressed at the end of Covid.
But boy could I have not been more wrong, and who said supporting the community isn’t good for business?
Then I got up early Thursday as we launched Recovery 4 Resilience at
gym.I’ve been loving training at Aequus for a few weeks with
, and we started the session because we want to help all the R4R runners avoid getting injured. So we swam laps of the 25m magnesium pool, hit the sauna, and finished with a cold plunge in the 6-degree water.
Huge thanks to Aequus owner Shannon Breen for putting the session on, and everyone found it so relaxing that I heard a tear or two was shed. Incredible.
Then cap it off, one of my daughter did a presentation to her class about meeting Dylan Alcott last week.
So proud of her and chuffed she got to learn at a young age that she can still do amazing things, no matter what happens to her.
I also have more to share, but will save that for another week. Cheers!

Highlight: When a doctor told a good mate (who’s a Dad) that he would have been in big trouble had he not lost his weight when he was hospitalised with COVID-19.
What a zig zag week you've had Ben.
A tough decision followed by some wins and there's still Friday, Saturday and Sunday to go :).
I don't have any suggestions for a co-founder, but possibly someone who is a dietitian?
I think your values and principles heavily align with Kate Freemans App Alya Health but I'm undecided if the two apps are competing apps or apps that may be able to compliment each other.
