Today I’m renaming my blog from “Struggling” to “Transitions”.
What was once called “Ben’s Blog”, my blog has been a place for me to think out loud and share my journey in retirement, and long-time readers will know I’ve been in some dark places at times since starting it nearly 4 years ago.
But recently, I feel I’ve turned a corner and am no longer struggling.
Therefore, it was time for a new name.
We are more than what we do for work.
But work takes up much of our time, and enjoying what you do each day can give life meaning.
For me, I loved playing for the Brumbies and my country, and transitioning from it has been hard because I’ve felt how enjoyable and rewarding work can be.
Luckily, I knew what I wanted to do when I hung up the boots.
But making the transition to it has been tough, and writing about why is helping me navigate the challenges, and setting me on the course to a second meaningful career.
And I hope that by sharing everything, those of you who are considering a career transition of your own can avoid the mistakes I made.
So yeah, welcome to “Transitions”.
A nice moment in time. I wonder where this iteration will take you?
I like it. Transitions also have their bumps but implies progress. The very title of “struggling” landing in my inbox always brought up a flash of anxiety for me.
