Good to see this approach, thank you. Weight loss as energy management makes total sense. I'd like to see your thoughts on the related aspects of stress management, trauma response, and the dopamine hit from sugar and caffeine.
Thank you Ben. Absolutely makes sense. As a general theory, it will be interesting to understand the intersections with the things that make our golden lives fragile and finite such as enduring circumstances that significantly challenge energy and skill management such as disability, pain, neurodiversity, caring responsibilities, disadvantage. (etc). I look forward to reading more from you!
Your welcome Catriona, and as you say, there are so many unavoidable energy draining situations in life. So I try to focus on the avoidable ones, which is easier to do when I’m prioritising my health.
I can only speak for myself but I have noticed since I have been back running again after injury lay-off and taking CBD I have a significantly smaller desire to binge junk after dinner, which has always been the danger time for me.
It tells me one thing, I’m eating nutrient poor, easy to attain, minimal prep food more so when I’m not looking after my health.
I reckon I’ve at least halved the amount of crap I eat after dinner in the last four weeks without even trying to. Just focusing on looking after myself and that in turn is looking after me.
I’m the same. I always eat better when I’m exercising. If I get energy from exercise and eat well throughout the day, great chance I won’t crave energy from junk food that night.
And don't get me started on Uber Eats. I did some analysis on me and my wife's Uber Eats activity last year and it was an embarrassing eye opener how much we were spending!

Thanks Catriona. Will address those in next week’s blog, but I think energy and stress management are linked.
I only get stressed when I don’t have the energy (or skills) to deal with the thing that’s causing the stress. Hope I’m making sense!

Seems sensible to me.

Now we have thankfully eliminated it 😊
We used it heaps when it first came out too! And it’s crazy how we don’t even need spend energy getting food anymore... because it now comes to us!!!
I'm not sure about changing the appraoch from weight loss to energy management.
What part of it makes you unsure?
