The dumbest thing I ever did on the footy field was to kick the ball during the World Cup Bronze Medal match against Wales, and they nearly scored from it. Thank god they didn't.
Heaps of dumb things. Booked tickets to RWC07 in France two weeks out from the start of the tournament without telling my long term girlfriend at the time. She dumped. Fair enough.
Broken two bones in two separate occassions whilst drunk. In both instances I thought I could pretty much do parkour/gymnastics without any prior record of being able to.
Next one I'm not so sure about but I literally spent my life savings, at the time, of 100 AUD travelling the the world for 2 years. A lot of it not well spent! Had a great time though. Just think I could have had equally as a good a time and spent half as much. Was writing cheques my body couldn't cash as the famous quote goes!!
You know I did. Even bumped into Eddie Jones after the match who was there in reconnaissance and he was as distraught as us. And we had tickets to the semi we were meant to be in. Had to leave Marseille or risk fighting Englishmen so drove to Montpellier and in the main square on big screens watched France beat the ABs. Along with the booze that was a balm for my Wallaby soul.
Breaking the DJ mixer mid set during Stonefest 2007, literally ripping the volume slider out of it. The sound dies and everyone is looking at me wondering what was happening. I was so drunk that I thought it would be a great idea to try my hand at rapping on the mic. I remember thinking that if I can just make two lines rhyme, I'll be a bloody genius. I couldn't. Mikah Freeman then joined me in attempting standup comedy. That failed. Then I proceeded to tell the 2000 strong crowd that 'I AM CANBERRA, I'M THE BEST DJ THERE IS'.
Incredible! Can't imagine losing a child and I think what Dr Hone is saying is that "you can overcome struggle by accepting that tough times are inevitable, by focusing on what you can control, and by being self-aware of your habits and thoughts."
Awesome video! Love the part about how people beat themselves up and go into fight or flight because they believe they need to do it to motivate themselves. Can totally relate.
Just remember, it's the people in the house that make it a home, so whilst you regret selling your home, you've got your family nice and close and that's worth more than anything that money can buy. Your girls and Jen have a super Dad/Husband who works hard every day at being the best version of himself.
Shame we can’t post GIFs here as there’s some funny ones I could add 🤣 Thanks for the giggles, I think everyone has a few ‘dumb things’ stories which mates will never let us live down. Some from me:
1. Dancing at uni bar with a glass bottle in my hand, trying to swig & chipping a tooth (real classy)
2. Drunkenly losing keys to our accomodation on NYE & trying to climb up to a second story balcony to get in. Failing, having to call parents to pick us up at 5am 😱
3. Most recent dumb thing - rookie mistake trying a new gel on race day & it not agreeing with my tum tum. Less said the better but let’s just say I was very thankful for a portaloo

Ya don’t lose if ya learn! Shidding yaself is and always will be hilarious. I enjoyed this one, haha.
Now it's your turn mate.
It’ll be a long blog

Hahahaha I hope you didn't make it to the AUS v ENG quarter final. That would really have rubbed salt into wound!

I don't think that's a mistake mate.... Weren't you just stating the truth? hahahaha
Wearing jeans and sneakers at Daft Punk in 40 degree heat was a doozie and should have been on the list..
I beg to differ
I reckon half the world shares number 1 with you Ben. I certainly do.
Go gently tomorrow.
Thanks Sarah. I think so to and not sure why. A lot of unnecessary pain being felt.
Found a couple of helpful resources today. Have you seen Dr Lucy Hone’s TEDx Christchurch talk? https://youtu.be/NWH8N-BvhAw

Yes, and actively choosing not to do things which will likely be harmful

Thanks Clare. Now I'm waiting to read yours! lol

Hahahaha your welcome Mim and I can relate to all 3! Race day gut issues are the worst.
We’ve all done dumb things & I’m about to ask a dumb question… what’s a start up ? 😬
