Today marks five years since I started this blog.
Technically its birthday was last month, but I only realised yesterday.
Things have been going really well lately, and while most of that is thanks to the support of my incredible wife, I also have this blog to thank.
Over the years, what I’ve written each week has been all over the place as I figured out how it fit into my life and kept it going.
But I started it during the first lockdown, and five years later, I’m so glad I did.
It’s helped me figure out what I think about things (you don’t really know something unless you can write about it), capture stuff I can look back on later, and just get things off my chest.
It’s also led me down a new career path, as my energy management talks have come directly from the writing I’ve done here. Plus it’s massively improved my ability to communicate. Which in turn has improved all my relationships.
And while this was before the blog, The Dock was invited to host the first
because of something I wrote in the Canberra Times! But by far the best part of writing this blog has been (this sounds corny) the friendships I’ve made through it. Because the messages I got from readers saying that sharing my journey has helped them were bright spots in what was a pretty dark time for me.
And knowing this blog has made a difference means a lot, and long may it continue.
So if you can’t tell already, I’m trying to convince you to start a blog.
Or just start writing, even if you don’t want to share it publicly.
What’s come of it has changed my life for the better in every way.
And I have little doubt it’ll do the same for you too.
Happy B'day Blog!
