G’day!
I’m Ben and I’m a father of 3 who use to play Rugby, but now I’m a co-owner of pub The Dock, and co-founder of startups fam and Alfred.
So far retirement from Rugby has been tough and I’ve made lots of mistakes.
But I’ve realised that a lot of them could have been avoided had I been able to think and communicate clearly.
After having a meltdown during the first lockdown, I started writing to organise my thoughts so I could improve my communication with people who’s help I need, and to share my journey.
My mind starts to rush if I don’t spend time being thoughtful, and writing is forcing me to slow down and reflect, which is helping me make better decisions, which then helps to make progress on what I’m trying to do.
My mission in life is to build tools that create a happier and healthier planet, and I believe the two main problems to overcome in order to achieve that are:
Low personal energy levels and the impact this has on our mental health and self-belief.
A disconnect from our true support networks, caused partially by social media.
Alfred and fam are built to combat these issues.
In other blogs, I go into the how and why I think they can help, along with Rugby stories and anything else you’d like me to write about.

Cheers!
