It is good that you have found a way to work through it by writing. Some don't get that far and remain locked up and I reference Jung's statement where your fear is there is your task. You have achieved a lot and it seems fear has played an important role. I guess it takes experience to understand fear is not negative.....it might even protect one.....
Fear is such an important emotion. It can drive or hinder us. When I feel fear, I try to reflect on the emotion's message. I don't think fear is ever something to 'get over' or to eradicate from our lives. The growth with the emotion of fear is learning to use it to help not hinder. This includes sitting with it, rather than making emotional or irrational decisions.
Im wondering if it's similar to the concepts discussed in dopamine nation. That a bit of pain helps keep the balance. So perhaps irrational fear still has its place and won't necessarily lead to irrational decision making?
A tricky balance to find! Safer to eliminate the fears I reckon and just accept bad things sometimes happen, bad things that are outside of our control
"Worrying I won’t be taken seriously because I didn't win any titles". You were a member of a team - you can't beat yourself up because your team didn't win any titles, IMHO. But you were the Brumbies top scorer in 2010 - quite a remarkable feat for a prop! However, I doubt you would have been able to do that without the team that you had behind you. I think the message is that to succeed, we all need to develop a good team to support our endeavours.

Quinny! Love that quote and often think about a similar one that says “what we fear doing is usually what we most need to do”.
I get how it can protect but also feel it prevents growth if not kept under control.

I think irrational fear can and should be eradicated.

For the last question, I guess just slow exposure? To keep getting data points to show your brain that it’s actually safe.
Slow exposure from pushing outside our comfort zones?
