Dear Breeny,
I was contemplating buying you something for Christmas, but I’ve decided to write you a letter instead.
What a year hey!! In fact what a crazy 4 years it’s been since you emailed the Dock asking if we’d host a one-off run!
Never did I think
would take off like it has, and nor did I realise how much I needed it until recently. And it’s not the exercise that’s helped most.
It’s been having a friend like you and being apart of such a great community, because I was pretty lonely right before we met.
Most of my rugby mates have left Canberra, and feel that I’m at a different life stage to some of the others.
But I don’t feel lonely anymore, especially because time after time you’ve proven to me that you’ve always got my back.
Even when you’ve got tons on your plate, and I’m inspired by how well you’re juggling work, supporting Helen’s work, R4R, and doing it all with 3 young kids.
I’ve told you this before, but I value how honest I can be with you, as I can count on one hand the number of people in my life that I feel I can be truly honest with.
But I know you'll always take on board whatever I say, and this trust is why I think our friendship keeps growing.
I’m so proud of what we’ve built and couldn’t be more excited for the road ahead, and I reckon we’ll look back smile when we’re old.
I’m more confident than ever R4R can make Canberra suicide free by 2033, and that’s because of the growth I’ve seen in you as a leader (Clear > Clever), and how that’s attracting so many people to get around R4R’s message. Keep going.
Anyways, thanks again for being such a great mate and I hope you and the family have an awesome Christmas.
Hoo bloody roo!
Benny
PS: It’s all happening.
