Tonight I’m going to my first World Cup Final.
I missed out as a player in 2011 (lost the semi) and 2015 (dropped) and as a fan in 1999, as my parents wouldn’t let me get up during the night to watch the Wallabies beat France because my report card was terrible.
A part of me wishes I’d gotten to experience Rugby’s pinnacle as player.
But it wasn’t to be, and I can rest easy knowing that it wasn’t from a lack of effort, and tonight clash between Rugby’s two powerhouses could (if the weather holds) produce an all time great final.
Both teams have been tested on their path to final, and my head is saying NZ for the win, as they had an easier semi final and an extra day’s rest.
But SA have proven me wrong a couple of times this tournament, and they how the keep digging deep when the going gets tough is incredible.
All smiles at fulltime after SA score late to beat England last week.
But it’s become clear this week how SA are able to dig deep in the big moments to find a way to win.
They are playing for all of South Africa. A country that’s doing it tough.
The All Blacks play for their jersey and it’s legacy.
But the Boks are playing for their nation.
And I think that’s worth getting behind.
Cmon Bokke!
Who do you think will win and why?
I feel the same! I think the ABs will win, but SA have been a surprise packet clinching the win in the Semi against England. Both teams play a different game with the ABs typically playing running rugby and scoring tries and SA generally kicking goals/pens. The try against England a crucial moment. (I only watched the last, 30 mins of the semi)
I don't really care who wins, but hoping for a great game!
If it rains, the Boks.
If not, ABs because apparently Wayne Barnes is reffing and he tends to let it flow!
