Today marks the beginning of a new chapter for Struggling, as I’m proud to announce a paid tier for those of you who'd like to support my work and help me write more.
A paid subscription will cost $7AUD per month, with the goal to get enough subscribers so I can focus purely on writing one day a week.
While free subscribers will still receive some posts, paid subscribers will also get special fortnightly posts, access to my community chat, and a warm fuzzy feeling knowing their supporting a good bloke who's trying to make a difference.
I didn't know what to write about when I started writing, but now I've found my writer's voice, I feel I have much to share and things I want to write about include:
My recovery from poor mental health.
The impact Australia's obsession with winning is having on our kid's mental health.
My challenges and mistakes in retirement to help other athletes with their transition from sport.
Rugby Union and help rebuild the love for it in Australia by sharing my thoughts, game reviews, and sparking debate about important issues.
I know that's a lot. But I feel strongly about each one, and with more time to write, I'm confident I can produce more articles worth reading that contribute to the public discourse in a positive way.
I want my girls to grow up in a happy and healthy society, which is something I'm not convinced Australia is heading for. Why is anyone's guess. But I'm looking forward to sharing mine over the coming months and hearing what you think.
Thanks in advance to those of you who upgrade to a paid subscription. Your support means a lot and gives me a chance to make a difference.
Also, a huge thanks to those of you who pledged a subscription. Your encouragement gave me the confidence to get serious about writing, and that something good can come from my struggles.
Thank you.
