I'm reviewing an organisation's well-being policy at work, and would appreciate your thoughts.
To objectively assess their policy, I think it’s important to first define what a healthy worker and workplace is, which can then serve as a benchmark.
A healthy worker
A person who has the energy to effectively learn or perform tasks, is physically well, and feels emotionally connected to their work and colleagues.
A healthy workplace
A place that prioritises its employee’s well-being by enabling them to be their real selves, promotes honest communication, and unites everyone towards a meaningful goal.
That’s the kind of workplace I want to be in.
I know it’s more complicated than this, but I need simple definitions of both, because too much corporate jargon is boring and hard to understand.
But enough from me. What do you think?
Hey Ben,
Fair crack at defining a heathy worker & a healthy workplace.
My only addition would be to a healthy workplace is one that strives to ensure their staff are fulfilled, personally and professionally.
Pretty good definitions I reckon.
Only thing I thought maybe worth calling out (though the definitions do allude to it) is a sense of purpose.
